The Best Thanksgiving Ever!

Madison surprised us all today by walking across our dining room several times. She is now 22 1/2 months, and has taken a few steps here and there, but always has to be "tricked" into it. She has now realized that she *can do it! It is so exciting, and I keep thanking the Lord over and over as I consider all that she has accomplished in her two short years.

It was a very precious day, and all of our children were here to witness it, as well as other close family members. I knew she was getting close, but didn't realize how ready she actually was. Just another reminder that our children are always a step ahead of us. :)

  4. I was just wondering if Madison wears AFO's currently and does she or has she used a walker in the past? It's so exciting to see so many of our sweet SB friends doing so very well this Thanksgiving. Not sure if you saw that Jet Penny is now walking too. It just makes me wonder - will Annabelle ever walk unassisted? Do I dare let my brain go there? It's hard not to, but then it also hurts a little to think about the unknown. Just wondering out loud :-)

Again, we are truly so happy for Madison and for your family!

    Happy Thanksgiving.

  5. Nicole, Madison does wear AFOs and has used a walker for about 9 months now. I too have been afraid to hope that she would be a walker, but her doctors and therapist have been pretty certain from early on. It's amazing to see how they compensate for those muscles that just don't do what they should. It is a conscious, learned thing for these children, and it does take work. I think many children with SB take a few years to get those early milestones, even with the ability to walk. I just looked over your blog, and Annabelle is just a doll! Looks like she is doing great!

  6. Thanks Kim - I really appreciate your support and your response both here and on the SB kids site regarding the walker.

    We are both truly blessed!
